A water-shortage as almost literally scared the pants off the citizens of a Gotham-like city. To save on water the government has outlawed the use of private toilets. Denizens must pay to use the public facilities, which are owned by the corrupt Caldwell B. Cladwell. Those who don’t pay get sent to Urinetown. What is Urinetown? Nobody knows, for nobody ever comes back. The water shortage is only part of the plot, however, as there has also been a revolution. A few people have fallen in love as well, adding to the drama of it all.
