
LaGuardia Airport is
located in the borough of Queens, New York City. It is
approximately eight miles from Midtown Manhattan. The facility
measures a full 680 acres with 72 different gates from which to
depart. It has been operated by the Port Authority of New York
and New Jersey under a lease with the city of New York since
1947.
To get there from
Manhattan, take the Grand Central Parkway east to either exit 5
(Astoria Boulevard, Marine Air Terminal), exit 6 (94th
street, alternate Airport Exit), or exit 7 (Airport Exit). From
Long Island, follow the Grand Central Parkway West to either
exit 5 (Steinway Street, Marine Air Terminal) or 7 (Airport
Exit).
Upon arrival in LaGuardia,
there are various methods for getting yourself into Manhattan.
The M60 bus connects with various subway stations which can be
taken into the city. The Q33 bus stops at the 74th
Street-Broadway-Jackson Heights subway stop in Queens. The Carey
Airport Express has various stops in Manhattan, among them Grand
Central Station. The Gray Line Air Shuttle will drop you off at
any hotel in Manhattan from 23rd to 125th
Streets. Finally, the Gray Line Express runs back and forth from
Manhattan and Jamaica, Queens, to LaGuardia.
Parking is readily
available on either a daily or long-term basis, with Lots 1, 4,
5, 6, and 7 available for hourly or daily use, and Lot 3 for a
more lengthy stay. Ground transportation to the airport is
negotiable for travel by limousine, taxi, or bus, from most
local addresses as well as other major airports in the area,
such as Newark and JFK. Information counters located near the
parking area can assist you further.
Connecting flights are
always available to Newark International or JFK Airports via
express bus, metered taxi, limousine, or chartered and private
vans. Multilingual staff will assist you with all inquiries and
directions once inside the facility.
Group ride fare from
LaGuardia Airport -
Notwithstanding the rate of
fare set forth in Metered Rate of Fare (at the top of
this page), the fee for trips made pursuant to a group riding
plan from LaGuardia Airport shall be as follows for
each passenger:
1) To the East Side of
Manhattan, east of Fifth Avenue, from 23rd Street to 96th
Street - $7.50
2) To the
West Side of Manhattan, west of Fifth Avenue, from 23rd Street
to 96th Street - $8.50
3) To downtown Manhattan, south of
23rd Street - $9.50
