Shooting pool is a popular evening activity for many New Yorkers. Most pool halls are safe places to come and play, but as usual, be wary. Pool sharks abound in the city and would love to play some out of town talent.

Of course, most pool in New York is played in the back of bars. Most of the seedy dives as well as some of the upscale bars have a table. If this is not the environment you’re looking for, then you’re looking for the places we list below. They’re good places to shoot pool and have a couple of beers, rather than have a couple of beers and shoot pool.
