HISTORIC ORCHARD STREET
SHOPPING DISTRICT

E. Houston-Canal Sts. (centering on Orchard

Free shopping guide (888) VALUES4U.

The Historic Orchard Street Shopping District, on Manhattan's Lower East Side, consists of Orchard, Grand and Delancey Streets and their environs. The first home of many of America's immigrants from Eastern Europe, it's the place where bargains were invented. Today, you'll find high-end European designer fashions, women's lingerie, handbags, shoes and family apparel at about 25 percent off retail. The area is jammed on Sundays, since about half the stores are closed on Saturdays to observe the Jewish Sabbath. Come mid-week to avoid crowds. (212/226-9010).

MANHATTAN MALL
Sixth Ave, and 33rd St.; (212) 465-0500.
Seven days.

Seven levels of shopping and eating heaven. Packed to the gills with well-known stores and enough diversity to keep you there all day long. Mens and women’s apparel, children’s stores, shoes, jewelry and accessories, athletic gear, health and beauty aids, luggage, home furnishings, electronics, books cards and gifts, and a massive food court make the Manhattan Mall your one-stop shop for anything you need.

SOUTH STREET SEAPORT
133 Beckman Street

New shops are still being added all across the cobble stoned Fulton Street, and Pier 17 provides three levels of shopping goodness. These stores are more geared towards upscale citizens and is well known for being a tourist attraction, a place to spend your hard-earned cash. Ann Taylor, Liz Claiborne, and J. Crew are three of the more recognizable enterprises, but there are a few quirkier shops as well. An example is Mariposa, a place to purchase butterflies preserved in Lucite. For a weekend of spending like a drunken sailor, visit the South Street Seaport.

WORLD TRADE CENTER
SHOPPING MALL
Bounded by West, Church, Vesey, and
Liberty Sts.; (212) 435-4170.

Over sixty stores, services and restaurants offer everything you need. This mall really serves the many people who work in the area, so you’ll find mostly business apparel (suits and shoes) and things like books and services.
